Felzivar is a recurring character in the Alma’s Prophecy story. While he has druidic origins, he chose to live in modern society and pursue a different lifestyle. Currently, he is a student at the Armida University in Sunshore while working for the Adventurer’s Guild.
Personality
Felzivar is introspective and cordial but becomes very timid around strangers and certain people. Compared to most Kitsune, he acts more with the personality of an actual fox. He has his moments of confidence, but most often stays passive around others.
Background
Felzivar was born into a druidic tribe, both of his parents being Kitsune. His mother was native to the tribe, while his father came from a group of wandering druids. Being of two different backgrounds, they had very different methods of raising Felzivar. He would become both curious and afraid of things he didn’t understand. Of his kitsune abilities, he learned most about elemental magic and illusions.
When he was of age, Felzivar chose to separate from the druid tribe and integrate himself into modern society. Outside of a few ex-druids who helped prepare him for modern life, he would begin this journey alone. Settled in the town of Sunshore, Felzivar would find work as a farmhand. While it provided him with enough to live, Felzivar’s aspirations needed more. He sought higher education, aiming to pursue a career in law.
He would make his way into Armida University, but the problem was longevity. While his first semester was secured, sustaining his lifestyle became an issue. The cost of education would be too much for the finances of a drifting farm-hand. He’d confide this concern in one of his professors, who was in a similar situation to himself. Arzea – known at the time as Professor Lorrente – came to Sunshore from Savaria. She proposed if Felzivar wouldn’t survive making the product, then he should try looking for who he can sell it to. In reality, Arzea was trying to get something out of Felzivar. Through his business, she would enact secret operations. Nearly all of his customers were associates of Arzea, passing around secret messages and supplies for her future political plans. Not only was she now his sole financial supporter, Arzea would make romantic advances with him in equal secrecy. Felzivar was entirely under her spell.
Unfortunately, his connection to Arzea would wane as she began focusing more on campaigning as Sunshore’s mayoral candidate. Without any clients, his business would fail and Felzivar was left alone again. Unfortunately, Arzea’s use of his business made him known in seedy places. The Moonclaws – a bandit clan near Sunshore – needed a getaway driver, and Felzivar’s circumstances made him easy to coerce. Felzivar would join them, unaware of the better routes he could’ve taken.
Felzivar’s time in the bandit clan was fortunately short-lived. Due to a botched robbery, the Moonclan’s camp was discovered. Though involved in the robbery, Felzivar was spared the fate of the rest of the clan: arrest or death in combat. He was brought back under Arzea’s purview, now mayor of Sunshore. After a personal meeting, Arzea assigned Felzivar a probationary occupation with the benefit of a withheld criminal record. He would have to work as a handler for the newly established Mercenary Commission in Sunshore.
Abilities
Color Magic
Felzivar can conjure magic energies with diverse properties, distinguished visually by their color. Color Magic can transmute other spells and physical matter, imbuing different colors based on the given properties. Multiple colors can be applied to one spell, but improper mixing can create “brown” color magic. Brown color magic has no effect; the transmutation was done wrong.
Red: Adds aggressive alterations through greater destructive force or discomfort.
Purple: Subdues senses and acts as a poison. Great for making long lasting ailments and curses.
Blue: Settles motion and certain emotional reactions.
Green: Mends damage and causes growth. Can create plant-like substances.
Yellow: Intensifies natural properties.
Orange: Makes spells more solid by adding physical properties. Best for making barriers.
White: Makes the after effects of magic harder to extinguish. Not to be mettled with without Black color magic or powerful dispelling.
Black: Dismantles existing magical bonds. Best for counter-spells and dispelling.
Kitsune Magic
Fire magic is an innate ability of most Kitsune. While Felzivar can only conjure normal Foxfire, he combines it with Color magic to create unique forms of fire.
Realistic Illusions
While he doesn’t do it often, Felzivar can create illusions to trick others. He most often makes copies of himself or fake barriers for concealment.
Erebaros’ Curse (Invisibility)
After inheriting demonic energies from Theree, Felzivar is always in a state of invisibility unless he expends mana to become visible. While normally detrimental, Felzivar has taken advantage of this curse to train his capacity for mana and avoid conflict through an innate invisibility.
Curse Manipulation
As consequence of his exposure to the Erebaros’ Curse, Felzivar learned how to separate and contain curses within magical objects. With this, he usually carries many cursed objects to reap the benefits of some curses while mitigating their harmful effects.
Bardic Druidism
Felzivar uses music as a medium for his druidic powers. Imbuing magic into his instrument allows its music the ability to influence the mind, reveal guises, and provide magical enhancement to physical matter. He uses this most often to communicate with animals, either by song or mimicry of their calls. He’s most proficient in guitar and the flute.
Design Philosophy
Felzivar’s patterns resemble a red fox, reflecting the forest environment he is native to. Though hidden by his choice in clothing, Felzivar has a very muscular build from the physical labor required in his druidic upbringing and work as a farmhand.
Clothing
Felzivar wears a sort of apron that covers his chest and wraps around his waist, with a fiery pattern printed on it. His pants are made from animal hide, with broad legs and a grassy pattern at the bottom. When he lived with his druid parents, most of his clothing was just animal hide. In large part, he still holds onto his druidic roots through his magical practices and attire. Over this, he wears a large leather trenchcoat.
Trivia
- Felzivar learned his Color Magic from Arzea.
- Whenever Felzivar is nervous or embarrassed, he tends to put his hands behind his head. This is because after escaping the Moonclaw clan, Arzea developed a tendency to hit him in the back of the head when she didn’t approve of his behavior.
- For a period, Felzivar started a habit of smoking to relieve the stress of his job at the Mercenary Commission.
