Cragmire

Cragmires are demon thralls created by fire devils. Since they are not natural-born devils, they do not represent a fear.

Appearance

Cragmires look like an average human in size and physique, though their skin looks dark orange or brown like burnt stone. Their stomach and shoulders are indented by geodes of red or orange gemstones. Their head is made entirely of obsidian, with huge horns and many holes across it. Due to the size of these horns, they are necessary for the Cragmire’s balance. All Cragmires carry a scythe-like weapon, which is constantly on fire.

Society/Behavior

Cragmires have a controlled mind, making them mostly work-horses for fire devils. Their offensive strength and evasiveness make them incredibly effective protectors for their creator. Cragmires are often used as bargaining tools by devils in contracts. They make convenient, disposable, yet effective thralls to carry out a contractee’s bidding.

Despite needing to be commanded to act, they behave uniquely in finer ways. Cragmires will act in a stealthy manner, attempting to go as unnoticed as possible while carrying out their task. This is often beneficial in combat scenarios, but can lead their master to lose track of them in larger-scale tasks.

Threat

Stealthy Hunters
If instructed to attack, Cragmires will fight with ambush tactics to take their target by surprise. They can create temporary smoke plumes to hide in the open, making them extremely dangerous to deal with one on one. When Cragmires are afoot, someone falling behind a group can easily be taken and killed without immediate notice.

Incredible Strength and Speed
Despite the bulky appearance of their head, Cragmires are capable of extreme speed. Individuals untrained in combat will be overwhelmed by them fast, and escaping can be extremely difficult. Furthermore, they have an uncanny ability to cut through most things with their scythe. This always leaves large gashes that are often deadly to an ordinary creature.
